Prompt
December 5 – Let Go.
Post
“What a treacherous thing to believe that a person is more than a person.” - John Green, Paper Towns
I really want to elaborate on this but I have spent the last hour trying to explain it and failing miserably… I even confused myself. So here is the simplified, mildly cryptic version: This year, I let go of the idea that the people I looked up to, the people I wanted to be friends with, the people I follow on Twitter, etc., were anything more than just people. It’s something I’ve had to remind myself of constantly this year, so I haven’t really felt good or bad about it yet, but hopefully it is beneficial to me in the long run.
Realizing that people are people is extremely important. It means that you can now be the best person that you can be without trying to compare yourself with others. Letting go of this will indeed be a great thing in the long run.

Beautiful and a great realization but, you have to realize that half the time it’s their publicists (at least with all my politicians I’m following) which really blows.

It’s not really politicians or celebrities; it’s mostly “real people” – ones I considered friends, or wanted to be friends with, or just wanted to know I exist.
